Virginia – Thanksgiving & National Sites

Our pre-retirement kick off trip took us to Virginia and Washington DC for Thanksgiving week to visit our son, Will, and his wife, Chrissy as well as 3 of Tom’s 5 siblings. Daughter, Grace, joined us in Virginia Beach for Thanksgiving.

Our first National Park visit of this adventure was Shenandoah National Park, 75 miles from Washington DC with wine tasting at the end of the day. We took a short hike to the highest point in Shenandoah NP, Hawksbill Mountain (4050′). I anticipate that we will NOT make that a goal to hike to the highest point in all the NPs!
