The Trip Home: Jan 27 – 31

Florida_RoundTrip

We had an equally great trip home, other than the slog through western Kansas and eastern Colorado. We will need to plan such that we break that up next time with visits to Tom’s cousins. We just wanted to get home this time.

January 27 – 29: Meanwhile, we swung north through Georgia and stopped in to see my former Lockheed teammate, Bob Wetzsteon, and his wife, Kay in Blue Ridge, GA, the southern tip of the Appalachian mountains and Appalachian trail. Bob and Kay toured us around their beautiful home and the area despite the heavy rain. Much more to see in that area!

January 30, Tuesday: Hot Springs National Park, Hot Springs,, Arkansas

We spent the morning touring our second National Park, Hot Springs NP after a night in Little Rock, AR. I was impressed with Little Rock and Arkansas in general. The downtown area seems like it is up and coming. We even hung with the very hip trivia crowd after dinner and played a round of trivia–that was a first!!

Hot Springs National Park is inserted in and around the town of Hot Springs in that the focus is the hot springs that are present in throughout the mountains and the subsequent bathhouses that popped up over the past few centuries, but resulted in the final row of bathhouses from the turn of the century.
