Montezuma Castle National Monument (March 12) — We’ve been seeing these beautiful white barked puzzle bark trees that grow with the cottonwoods. They are Arizona Sycamore.
Tuzigoot National Monument and Jerome, AZ, former mining town (March 13) — I included the photo of the information about the crews that worked to restore so many of the monuments that we’ve seen this past month. The WPA and CCC (Civilian Conservation Crew) that FDR created during the depression provided work for many unemployed men at that time by providing Federal work projects with environmental benefits such as of the National Park Service. My Grampa Rasmussen was part of the CCC.
