September 19 – 22: We spent 4 days with Tom’s brother, Alan and his wife, Robin, in Lake Carmel, NY, about 1 hour north of NYC. We didn’t bother with venturing into the City as there is plenty to do in their area!
Backing Liv and Vigo into the slot next to their house was another challenge in our RVing experience. They live on a busy state route and Alan and Robin each got into their cars and I blocked traffic from each direction and directed Tom back in the slot.
Saturday, September 21st: We also walked across the Hudson River on the Walkway Over the Hudson Rail-to-Trail in Poughkeepsie, NY. Great views of the Hudson River and the Catskills in the distance.
Friday, September 20th: Robin and I drove up the Hudson Valley to Hyde Park and visited the National Historical Sites of Franklin D. Roosevelt’s Home and one of the may Vanderbilt Mansions. I always learn something new when I visit these sites. I didn’t realize that FDR contracted polio at the age of 39 after swimming at a boys camp nearby his home. Polio is spread through water! Fall is in the air!
