Big Bend State Park is Texas’ largest state park and is about 20 miles further west down the Rio Grande. We followed FM170 that hugged the Rio Grande the 50 miles from Lajitas to Presidio for some amazing views and a few short scenic hikes Closed Canyon and The Hoodoos.

The Closed Canyon hike provided the most entertainment and challenge as we shimmied up and down a few narrow rock formations. The hoodoos weren’t as exciting as those we’ve seen all over SW Utah, but we did get another great view of the area.
