We did a bit of wander through Oregon over the past week. I love Oregon, especially the Oregon Coast, but the wind and rain has been relentless, although you would not know it from my photos! I guess that’s the beauty of Oregon as well–the wind and rain come and go with little snippets of beautiful sunshine! We had to watch the radar carefully to avoid snow over the Cascades and gale winds on the coast as we towed the rig from location to location.
Bend
After our quick stop near Burns, OR, we spent a few nights in Bend. The mountains in this area are quite spectular as is the Dechutes River and lava flows from Newberry National Volcanic Monument. We also visited with Susan and Jerry, one of Tom’s cousins we had not met yet in their lovely home in Bend.

I talked Tom into a new Blackstone Grill…lots of versatility in cooking options! If you join us for a camping breakfast, there could be pancakes, bacon and eggs on the Blackstone!
Tom’s cousin, Judy and her husband Jerry–lots of genealogy discussion with them!
Cape Perpetua
Cape Perpetua is located just south of Yachats, Oregon on the mid Oregon Coast. Our friends, Jack and Sarah Box, from England days who actually lived about 2 blocks from us in our current neighborhood, joined us for the day. They currently live in Salem, OR.

Got to love the Oregon Coast!

George Pittock was the first recorded ascent of Mt. Hood. He encouraged his daughters to join him in hiking. I love their hiking clothes! Bonnets!!

Columbia Gorge with Elizabeth and Bill
One of my Linfield College (now University) roommates, Elizabeth (Antones) Payne moved to Mosier about 6 years ago. Her husband, Bill kite surfs the gorge in his free time. They shared their spectacular area with us.
