Family, Friends & Food at Schoodic Penninsula, Maine – August 2022

We’ve had an amazing August with visitors here at the Schoodic Pennisula Acadia National Park, Maine. It’s pretty much all about amazing scenery, great food of lobster and blueberries and wonderful heartfelt visits!

Highlights of touring around our area include hiking the Sun Dew Trail, driving up to Schoodic Head, stopping by Raven’s Nest (our super secret place!) as well as two trips over to Mount Desert Island, the main part of Acadia NP AND eating fresh Maine Wild Blueberries and getting lobster right off the boat from our lobster boys from the sons of our “boss” for our volunteer gig at Schoodic Institute.

Jon and Liz Hinebach, friends from Boulder, CO were instrumental in our discovering Schoodic Peninsula in Acadia NP 4 years ago. Liz’s family goes back to the 1700’s in this area and they spend weeks in the area of Sullivan, about a 1/2 hour from Schoodic every summer. We got to take them on an adventure of a few areas that they didn’t even know about on Schoodic to include the Sun Dew Trail and Raven’s Nest.

Sister in-law, Robin Lounsbury, popped up from NY for a short visit where we took her up to Schoodic Head for amazing sunset views.

Will’s in-laws and our dear friends, Don and Patty Lowe, drove out from Colorado via Northern VA, and spent a few days with us where we expanded our tour out to Mount Desert Island and Cadillac Mountain, the subject of so many of my sunset shots from Schoodic!

Tom’s brother, Lincoln Lounsbury and his wife, Carla, were our final visitors for August. This time we bought 8 lobster to last us for 2 dinners! And of course did much of the same touring in between a rainy foggy day and two beautiful sunny days.
