It’s hard to believe we just kicked off our 3rd year of retirement and extensive travel in our truck, Vigo and 5th wheel rig, Liv. Here are a few stats for the past 2 years:
- Visited 31 of 50 National Parks located in the lower 48 United States. We anticipate visiting 6 this year with our current trip to SW TX and Southern NM and then our spring trip to Oregon and Washington. The remaining 13 are scattered around the central western states, like CO, WY, SD, CA and NV. We keep thinking they will be easy to visit in our “free time”.
- Liv, our lovely house on wheels has visited 43 of 50 states.
This year’s plan started off with visiting the national parks in Texas and New Mexico the last half of February to early March , which we tried to hit last year twice. We will be home for a month, then head to the Oregon and Washington coast for about 6 weeks in April and May. The big trip will kick off in July with the standard trip to Montana, then we will head north and cross most of Canada on the Trans Canadian Highway making our way to Maine and Acadia National Park where we will be volunteering for the months of August, September and October.
We stopped in Austin for a week so that I could attend the Modern Quilt Guild’s annual convention, QuiltCon, where I rendezvoused with some of my quilting friends from Colorado. Here’s a quick recap of the early part of our trip:
Austin area including Texas Hill Country and QuiltCon fun with Colorado friends. Tom kept himself entertained at the Austin RV park and even helped a few folks get themselves back on the road!
