Big Bend National Park (BBNP) and near by Big Bend State Park are best visited over 4 days to drive and visit 4 completely different areas. We camped outside of Terlingua in the nearby town of Study Butte, which is only 5 miles from the BBNP border. We were able to get up to the Chisos Basin and Mountain area early to beat the crowds to park for our hike on Lost Trail Mine, which offered huge views from the Chisos Mountain Range, which sits in the middle of BBNP.
