July 2 – 5, 2020: The final leg of our SW CO outing including meeting up with our good friends, Renee and Oliver Krahn, outside of Gunnison for 4th of July weekend. We both traveled their in our own vehicles and campers and decided that we would tour around the area in separate vehicles during the day to maintain social distancing, hiking was assumed to be fairly safe and then drinking wine at the end of the day in their Clam screened shelter would again require social distancing. It was a bit awkward, but well worth the rendezvous.
Our first outing took us through Crested Butte and over Kebler Pass for a hike around Lost Lake Slough and up to Dollar Lake. Tom and I had done this a few years ago when we visited Crested Butte for our 30th anniversary.
The second day took us over to the North Rim of the Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park, which provided amazing views from the “normal” side to see Black Canyon of the Gunnison. It was like visiting the North Rim of the Grand Canyon. It is not a convenient drive and takes an additional 2 hours one way to get there, but so worth the effort!
Here’s a little overview of our 3 weeks on the road and a culmination of the five blog posts of Camping in a Covid World:

It seems you guys are seeing all of the USA. We have friends who have a place in Crested Butte, so it was fun to see some of those places we’d visited with them. Yes Colorado is gorgeous. We are well and glad you are too
