Maine: Part 1- Acadia NP (Sep 5 – 9)

September 5 – 9: Maine is amazing…Acadia National Park, even more so. Can we stay here?

Never met a lobster I didn’t like!

Hurricane Dorian came through Bar Harbor on Saturday, Sep 7th. We came back to a note on our door concerning potential rain and wind. Turns out that it wasn’t even as bad as the campground thought, but we had some impressive rain and tidal swell that afternoon in Winter Harbor and Schoodic Bay Point and the next day on the Ocean Road Trail.

On a side note, there was a “Prevost” gathering at our campground. These are Class A rigs that are upgrades to the basic tour bus and start at a million $$$. A used Prevost that is 10 years old starts at $500,000. 25 of these babies camped around us…think about that dollar value! Whew!

OK, here’s the real scenery with some action for the after affects of Dorian. We popped over the Winter Harbor and Schoodic Point on Saturday afternoon, after Dorian scooted through. Sunday morning we drove the Loop Trail on Mt. Desert Island and hiked the trail that followed the coast from Sand Beach to Otter Point with Thunder Hole in between.
