Maine: Part 2 – More Acadia & Southern Maine (Sep 8 – 14)

More of Maine…there’s so much to see! We took a boat tour out of NE Harbor on Mt. Dessert Island Sunday, Sep 8th of the islands south of Mt. Dessert Island–Islesford (Little Cranberry), Great Cranberry and Sutton.

Sep 9 & 11: But wait! Acadia National Park and surrounding area are NOT the only amazing part of Maine. We dropped south and stayed outside of Brunswick, meeting up with a friend from church in Boulder, Rob Stuart. He took us to Harpswell and surround area. Whoa, another beautiful area. Rob taught us how to cook live lobsters, which is a bit more controversial than I thought. But those lobsters are pretty darn yummy!

Sep 12: There’s a lot of genealogy research going on with me finding ways to keep myself entertained. I spent the day wandering Portland, Maine and the Portland Museum of Art and the Old Harbor area while Tom rooted around the Brown Research Library at the Maine Historical Society and the Wadsworth-Longfellow House.  Tom could almost be a Mainer with family history in Maine from the 1700’s!

Sep 14: We met Tom’s 1st cousin-once-removed, Sheila in York, Maine.
